Carpet Cleaning
About Carpet Cleaning
Perhaps you've been told in the past that you should wait as long as possible to clean your carpets, or that hot water cleaning damages your carpet. These are just two of the common myths surrounding carpet care. The carpet in your home may be one of the biggest investments you have! Knowing that, shouldn't you want to take care of it the best way possible? That's why you should NOT wait too long to have it cleaned! Dirt is abrasive, every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the fibers. This cutting action will cause your carpet to wear out faster. The longer you wait between cleanings, the faster the carpet wears out. As far as hot water damaging your carpet, a properly cleaned carpet will not be damaged at all by hot water extraction cleaning. Obviously, carpet cleaners will all be biased toward their own method of cleaning. However, major carpet manufacturers recommend ONLY hot water extraction cleaning using truck-mounted equipment.
Pro Home Care uses a powerful truck-mounted cleaning unit that is able to flush large volumes of hot, pre-softened water through the fibers of your carpet, then removing the water with a powerful vacuum, taking with it all of the "junk" that was in your carpet back out to our truck. The strength of the vacuum leaves your carpet nearly dry.
Another advantage of the carpet cleaning Pro Home Care provides is the use of SoapFree Miracle Cleaner. This cleaner is environmentally safe, non-toxic, odor free, and SOAP FREE! The value of being soap free is that there will be no sticky residue left in or on your carpets (a primary culprit for rapid re-soiling.) Your carpet is soft and clean, and will stay clean longer.
After-Cleaning Tips
After our Service Technician has cleaned your carpet, some simple precautions should be observed for the best results.
- Please minimize traffic on the carpet and remember that walking from a damp carpet onto a hard surface can be very slippery!
- For their safety, please keep children and pets off recently cleaned carpet until completely dry.
- To avoid stains or rust spots, don't remove any pads or blocks our Technicians may have placed under furniture until the carpet is completely dry.
- If stain protection was applied after cleaning, drying time may be lengthened. Please allow 24 hours before heavy carpet use.
Carpet drying time can vary widely due to the density of your carpet, humidity and the degree of soil. To speed drying, ventilate the area as much as outside weather allows, and increase air circulation (turn on fans). Carpet drying time may vary from only two hours under ideal conditions to as much as 24 hours.
Carpet Care Tips
Pro Home Care is dedicated not just to providing superb customer service, we make consumer awareness part of our plan. That means we want you to understand the carpet care process and how you can protect your investment in between cleanings. Have you ever noticed that right after you get your carpet cleaned, spots that were there before the cleaning disappeared during the cleaning, but then showed up again a short time later? This is usually due to soaps remaining in your carpet. Soap is sticky and attracts dirt, so if it wasn't rinsed out thoroughly, any dirt coming in contact with the surface of the carpet will stick, and the spot is back! You always want to use a soap free cleaner, and everything needs to be rinsed away completely. Pro Home Care does that for you during a cleaning. We will also give you a handy bottle of soap free cleaner you can use for those unavoidable mishaps between cleanings.
Overall soil control: Use doormats! If you have good quality doormats at your home entrances, you can greatly reduce the dirt, sand and oils in your house and carpets. If you use your garage as an entrance, use a large piece of carpeting to cover a portion of your garage floor. You will have to "walk off" some of the dirts and oils on this carpet before it hits your inside carpeting.
Vacuuming: Regular vacuuming will remove loose sand and dirt from your carpet, keeping it from working its way down into the fibers where it can become destructive to the carpet fibers. The more frequently you vacuum, the better for your carpet!
Change your furniture arrangement: Premature wear and increased soiling can happen when traffic patterns do not change.
Spills: Accidents happen...just take care of them as quickly as possible.
